Journey to Benares

November 14 and 15, 2003

Asia Society Museum, New York

Solo theatrical show of seven large oils on canvas from The Triptych Series which served as the inspiration for Melinda Camber Porter’s new rock opera, Journey to Benares.

Libretto, lyricsm and backdrops by Melinda Camber Porter

Music, direction, and choreography by Elizabeth Swados

Journey to Benares explores the agonies and ecstasies of love, the illusion of redemptions in a faraway land, and pays homage to the relevance of tantric philosophy.
